"Red Yarn" (2023) is a mixed media project combining ink, scrap paper, and red yarn. The work consists of two ink paintings mounted on black paper, connected by red yarn that symbolically unites the pieces. Created in response to personal loss, the project explores themes of grief, mental health, and emotional repair through visual form. The first image depicts a torn heart bound by red yarn, while the second presents a self-portrait, with the same thread representing tangled thoughts and emotion. The limited black-and-white palette evokes sorrow and reflection, while the uneven collage of scrap paper conveys a sense of fragmentation and vulnerability. A secondary work expands on these ideas through collage and paper manipulation, reinterpreting elements of the original composition to explore healing, cohesion, and transformation.
