This commissioned portrait was created from a low-quality, close-up reference image, which meant I had to interpret and reconstruct several details using my own visual judgement. My main goal was to achieve a realistic likeness of the dog, while making only minor artistic adjustments to enhance the final result. The overall style remains grounded in realism, with slightly exaggerated colour to add vibrancy and depth, and intentionally imperfect marker-style brush strokes and soft pencil textures to give the piece a more natural, hand-drawn feel. Rather than replicating the photograph exactly, I aimed to preserve realism while allowing small stylistic choices to add warmth and personality.
